The Search Begins. Tullow Oil are moving in.

6 Sep

Tullow Oil, will begin oil exploration in The Turkana Region this month.

According to the government, the possibility of finding commercial viable oil in the region is high as it had remained largely unexplored.

Tullow has started moving drilling rigs to Turkana and the drilling is expected to commence soon. If it strikes oil, the country would be able to achieve its development goals as set in Vision 2030.

The search for the precious commodity has been long and frustrating with CNOOC of China exiting the scene two years ago after unsuccessful search in Isiolo and Woodside of Australia spending Ksh3 billion unsuccessfully in Lamu.

Striking of oil in Kenya is high due to the descoveries of gas by Tanzania and oil by Uganda and Sudan which share the same geographical area.
