With captain Nemanja Vidic confirming his intention to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, David Moyes will have to find a new skipper to lead the Red Devils forward.

But who should take up the armband at Old Trafford to lead the club forward? Metro Sport looks at four possible candidates for the position.

Wayne Rooney
On paper perhaps the most obvious choice, with Rooney already captaining United in a handful of matches recently.

But with his record of wanting to quit the club every five minutes and frosty relationship with many United fans, he might be considered a bit of a risk.

Robin van Persie
Van Persie showed off his leadership ability at Arsenal, proving a successful skipper before departing for Old Trafford.
