The sheer numbers of animals in Masai Mara National Park was astonishing.  I could not have expected to see the hundreds of zebra, wildebeest, and other antelope we did.  Also, maybe 40 individual lions in 3 days?  Amazing.  With regard to lions, I was surprised to learn there a ~400 lions remaining in all of East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan). That means I saw about 10% of the remaining lions in this area.  Our driver continually drove the truck at sleeping lions so people could take pictures. Though on the surface it may not look like it bothers the lions, elevated stress levels tend to decrease reproductive rates. This is a huge issue in Kenyan parks that are run on bribes and thievery.
